Fall Fiber Fiesta

I will be selling my fiber creations in this show. (No photography) Wet felted vessels, scarves, and more. Here is what Espanola Valley Fiber Art Center says about the show...

We’re excited to bring together over 40 artists and their wonderful work for what is the fourth year of the Fall Fiber Fiesta! From hats and gloves to warm you up for winter, to felted purses that are both practical and beautiful. The Fall Fiber Fiesta’s artists have crafted rugs, shawls, scarves, ornaments and a myriad of amazing items out of the most incredible fibers.

If you’re wondering how these great pieces are made, check out our demo area at the back of the exhibition space, where you will be able to see - up close - skilled artists at work. There’ll be a children’s area where kids and adults can try their hand at colcha embroidery, weaving, spinning and other skills while making a special something to take home.

New this year is the Two Sprout Farm pop-up café where you are invited to drop in for a yummy lunch or healthy snack made from locally sourced ingredients throughout the day. Alternately, you can order your lunch in advance by visiting: acme.cafe

Fall Fiber Fiesta Early Bird Preview, Artist Reception, and Silent Auction

I will be available during the evening to talk about my work and make sales to you early-birds! From the Espanola Valley Fiber Art Center's description below, it sounds like it will be a lovely evening. Free parking in the parking lot to the rear of the building and possibly next to it.

The fun starts at 5:00 pm on Friday at the Artist Reception, where you will be able to meet some of the 40 artists who have incredible work in the show. Grab a glass of Vivác wine or Santa Fe Brewing Company beer, a plate of delicious snacks from Two Sprout Farm, and wind your way through the artist’s booths. It’s a great opportunity to get a jump on the weekend crowds and shop at your leisure. An added treat will be hearing the classic Northern New Mexico folk songs that Cipriano Vigil will bring to life. Tickets are only $10 – available at the door!

During the reception, you’ll be able to bid on some amazing silent auction items, generously donated by our supporters, and take home a wonderful gift for yourself or a lucky friend! The silent auction will open for bids at 5:00 pm and end at 6:30 pm. Be sure to register with our silent auction ‘Wranglers’ when you arrive and pick up your bid number. Successful bids can be paid by credit/debit card, check or cash. Bidding will start at 50% of the value on the evening of the auction.

Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta

This will be my first time at this show and I will not only be bringing my felted vessels and other handmade artisan felt items, but I will also be bringing a variety of felting supplies, including roving and felting kits! More details to come...

Fiesta 2017 is a fundraiser put on by the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council and will sponsor and provide support for a local non-profit organization, Susan's Legacy, chosen for the Charity Event by the Fiesta Committee.
Susan's Legacy is a small, non-profit agency in Albuquerque that provides intensive recovery support for women with co-occurring mental health and addictive disorders.  The goal for clients is to move from surviving to thriving as self-sufficient, contributing community members. Clients must be committed to recovery and actively engage in the services provided by SL to support the goals of becoming mentally stable and substance free.  Findings from the National Institute on Drug Abuse show that effectively treating addiction includes a long-term approach that provides treatment for the multiple needs of clients. Susan’s Legacy addresses these needs by providing case management, individual mental health and addiction counseling, and psycho-educational groups.  Susan’s Legacy provides services to clients free of charge. Because clients don’t pay for these services, Susan’s Legacy is dependent upon grants, donations, and fundraising to continue its work with co-occurring women.
Visitors to Fiesta can offer their support with a $5 donation (or more!). With each donation, the visitor can select a gift item from the table. Gift items (Doo-Dahs) are fiber art articles hand made by guild members.

'Eye Spy' Opening Reception

'Eye Spy' Opening Reception

This is a group show at Fuller Lodge Art Center and will feature one of my fiber art paintings titled, "Hereby hangs a tale..."

The show runs from May 22 through June 27. This is a special show for me because it will be the first to show one of my felted paintings. Even though it is a whimsical piece, I admit I am a bit nervous about it...sort of like a coming out party!  I will be at the opening reception and would love to see you there!

To give you an idea of what the show is about, here is a quote pulled from the 'call to artists' description.

Bring the Secret City some new hidden treasure to discover. Work with layers, camouflage, and illusions. Recognize the subtle game of cat and mouse and help us dig a little deeper. Force the viewer to look around the corners and reward us for our efforts!
